MUSIC VIDEOS: New Releases, Top Picks to Watch

Here are some of my favorite new music videos that have been released within the last 2 weeks. My top picks include Willow Smith, Martin Garrix, and Cheat Codes. Check it out ⤵️

#1) Jamiroquai - Automaton

This one's a little (actually a lot) weird. Automaton is the upcoming eighth studio album by English funk and acid jazz band Jamiroquai, due to be released on March 31, 2017 through Virgin EMI. It is the band's first album in seven years, following Rock Dust Light Star. Not really sure what the thing on his head is but the more you watch it, the cooler it gets. Jay Kay described the inspiration for Automaton: "in recognition of the rise of artificial intelligence and technology in our world today and how we as humans are beginning to forget the more pleasant, simple and eloquent things in life and in our environment including our relationship with one another as human beings". Hmmm, interesting.

#2) Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa - Scared To Be Lonely

My boi Martin Garrix did it again!🙌 If you saw my last music video post Martin Garrix collaborated with Bebe Rhexa and created "In The Name Of Love". This time around Garrix collaborated with Dua Lipa. I've never heard of her before but after listening to this track I've put her at the top of my list of artists to watch. It was released on January 27, 2017. Garrix premiered the song at the AVA Festival 2017 in Myanmar in January for New Year. The official music video was directed and written by Blake Claridge, and was produced by Craft London and Lois Newcombe.

#3) NF - How Could You Leave Us

Woah gurl. This. Is. Intense. Over the past year, 25-year-old recording artist NF has drawn a fanatical following with emotional music — none more vulnerable than a new song "How Could You Leave Us" written to his mother, who died from a drug overdose in 2009. The album, "Therapy Session" is the second studio album from the Christian hip hop artist NF. Capitol Christian Music Group released the album on April 22, 2016. It peaked as number 1 on both US Billboard Top Rap Albums and US Billboard Top Christian Albums. It also came in as number 12 on US Billboard Top 200. He has been noted as one of the most underrated rappers of the past couple of years and he has been touted as one of the best Christian hip hop artists, his style being compared to the likes of rappers such as Logic, Eminem, and Machine Gun Kelly. #4) Robin Schulz & David Guetta & Cheat Codes - Shed A Light

The music pope is smiling down on us today.🙏 "Shed a Light" is a song by German DJ and record producer Robin Schulz and French DJ and music producer David Guetta featuring American electronic music DJ trio Cheat Codes. The song was released as a digital download in Germany on November 25, 2016.The official music video of the song was released on January 31, 2017 through Robin Schulz's YouTube account. It was directed by Mario Clement and produced by Christopher Kane, and features actors Franziska Nylen and Christopher Reinhardt. The music video is about a male and female astronaut couple on a space mission, when the male crashes to a planet in his spaceship. His lover speeds to him in her spaceship, but he becomes surrounded by dark matter and warns her not to come closer. She does not heed his warning and goes to his side, causing both to be consumed by the matter. But not all is lost as there is a surprise ending. Watch above to find out!

#5) Willow Smith - Jimi

Willow Smith wrote on an Instagram post "I recorded this song in Jimi Hendrix's studio in NY when I was 12." Presumably, she is referring to Electric Lady Studios in New York City. A chill and mature-sounding beat gives the song a relaxing vibe, and the slow and consistent rhythm of the percussion elicits a sleepy feel. Smith spends most of the song singing in a relatively low and raspy voice, adding in a few high-note flourishes near the end.In a way, "Jimi" seems to fit the same kind of theme Smith sustains in her previous songs of understanding and being yourself. Although the lyrics are much more cryptic compared to Smith's obvious proclamations in "Fireball" and "I Am Me." You do you gurl👌
